The Cuisinart mixer is a great buy. When we purchased the product it stated that it would take a week or two to receive but we received it within five business days which was a pleasant surprise. The mixer handles the task at hand without any problem. The only negative if there is one is the fact that due to the shape of the mixing bowl even though it has the room to mix four cake mixes at one time ... the narrowness of the bowl would put the mix above the mixer head itself and therefore would not properly mix the complete batch ... but it handles three cake mixes at a time without a problem. Cuisinart HSM-70 Power Advantage Hand/Stand Mixer

I just started working with this mixer. It's working pretty well for a hand/stand mixer. The only thing that may make other people consider other mixers is the fact that this one spins around the outside of the bowl. That leaves the ingredients in the center needing a little extra hand mixing, which is fine with this machine. I can detach the mixer from it's stand and just mix through the remaining ingredients.

It's working fabulously for me so far. It has a 3.5qt flat bottomed bowl, a spatula, 1 set of beaters, dough hooks and a bubble whisk. For the price it's great. I'm hoping this one will last. I always want a stand mixer and hubby was going to get me a KitchenAid. I got online and did some research as I want something will last me for a long time. After reading so many rave reviews, I decided to go for Hamilton Beach Electric Stand mixer. I talked hubby into having me open my Xmas present earlier so that I can bake all those Xmas cookies. upon delivery, my first impression of this stand mixer is impressed as the whole thing are all metal, like it says. It's also a beautiful deisgn, looks nice and elegant on the counter top in kitchen. I have only owned this mixer for 1 month and cannot provide much indepth input. But based on the different type of cookie dough I have made, the mixer does a great job. it is better than I expected as I remember some of the negative reviews. Some of the cookie dough I mixed was very thick and I had to switch to the dough hook after the dry ingredients were put in. Other than hook change,I really couldn't find anything to complain about. Actually we want the mixer to do a better job and when it necessary to use the right hook, then it is. Don't spend the big bucks on the other brand. I bought the Cuisinart when Save On Foods in Canada had it listed in their points catalogue, so getting it on points was the first draw. I had always intended to buy a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, but when I saw that the Cuisinart had 800W of power that was the second draw. It's a nice size, fits perfectly in my appliance garage on the counter. I do a fair bit of bread baking and making pasta dough, which is an especially dense dough. The Cuisinart manages both without difficulty. I do find that you need to scrape the bottom of the bowl periodically when you're working with other batter type doughs to make sure that all the ingredients are incorporating. I bought the pasta attachment, and love it, as well as the meat grinder. I find the blender attachment also handy, especially when you have to blench or puree something before adding it to the dough. I also have the food processor attachment. My one complaint with the blender and the food processor attachment is the decibel level. I haven't had a chance to test it with a sound meter, but I seriously wear ear plugs to prevent hearing loss because at speed 12, the sound is as loud as going into an industrial worksite. I can't think of why Cuisinart didn't get that figured out in their testing before marketing these two items. If I get the chance to measure the decibels with a sound meter at some point, I'll post the results here. Apart from these two items, the stand mixer itself has been an awesome addition to my small appliance collection and now outranks the Cuisinart Griddler as my favorite small appliance.Buy Cuisinart SM 55 Lowest Price, Order Now! I'm a SAHM who cooks almost all our meals and love to bake so I'm wiling to pay money for a quality machine that will make my life easier. This mixer isn't it! The design is horrible--unless you buy the extra pouring shield, it is nigh impossible to neatly add ingredients without turning off the mixer and removing the bowl. The beater-junk! The plastic chips off almost immediately, and heaven forbid you drop it. The bowl design is also terrible--there's a big hump at the bottom, which creates a well that causes dry ingredients to stay dry. This occurs even when I use just the bowl and a spoon to mix. Terrible!

And why do they only include one bowl? Every mixer I've ever bought came with two--a small and a large, which is very handy when mixing dry and wet ingredients separately. For the price they couldn't include one more steel bowl? Because of the one size and design of the beater movement, forget scraping the sides with a spatula. You'll have to remove either the beater or the bowl to do it with this design.

I have, however, had ok luck with the dough hook and making bread dough. Except that the dough hook's plastic is chipped along the seam, which is odd since I've used it maybe a dozen times. So while my motor hasn't burned out as others have complained, my bread has contained little flecks of white plastic coating.

I don't understand why people rave about KitchenAid mixers. I have a Cuisenart food processor--that's worth the money. It's clearly better than any other processor I've owned, I use it almost daily and it's still in perfect shape. But my KitchenAid mixer is a heavy hunk of junk that I can't even Craigslist because it's missing plastic on the attachments.
